Whew. It’s been a busy couple months. A lot has gone down in bookland, so I figured it might be handy to round it all up.
I'm still trying to make sense of all this.
Last July, I self-published my first novel. I'd been working on it a long time, largely thanks to the posse of Kickstarter backers who funded my writing time two years prior. The original plan was to pursue traditional publishing, but when that hit a snag, I decided I owed it to my backers to get the book in their hands as soon as possible. I stopped writing queries, hired an awesome cover artist, and put it out there. Some folks read it, and liked it. People said they'd like to read another. I was satisfied, and figured that was that.
Just like it says on the tin.
This is something I've wanted to try my hand at for a while. I've made games for friends before -- Neverwinter Nights modules in college, a few D&D sessions here and there, the Storium game I'm currently running -- but nothing beyond goofing off. This project is my way to teach myself a new skill, get my head back into sci-fi mode, and share a story I think some of you might like to see.
While this is largely about writer's block and turning thirty, it is also an avalanche of spoilers for Dragon Age: Inquisition. Don't read this if you haven't finished the game.
Sometimes, I write things that don't fit elsewhere. This is my place for those.
I expect this will be an occasional thing. Hopefully, it will be a good thing as well. Let's see how it goes.
